Discover Gentle Paws Experience Programs
Gentle Paws provides non-therapeutic animal-assisted wellness experiences for seniors and individuals with special support needs. Our programs focus on emotional wellbeing, calm connection, sensory engagement, and meaningful human-animal interaction through safe, supervised visits with gentle companion animals.
Science has proven that the bond between humans and animals creates real, measurable benefits for our well-being. Spending time with a calm companion can lower stress, improve heart health, and release "feel-good" hormones that make us feel safe and happy.
Our Program Philosophy
At Gentle Paws Education, we believe in the power of "Meaningful Connections." We bring our small, gentle animal companions to your home, centre, or facility to create moments of calm, learning, and mutual respect. This is not therapy; it's a holistic space celebrating the unique bond between humans and animals.
Schools: Education & Respect
- Learning Respect: An invitation for children to learn how to care for an animal without forcing contact.
- Animal Ethology: Students observe behavior to understand an animal's "silent language".
- Empathy: Understanding a small creature's needs develops kindness for all living things
For Older Adults
We bring a spark of life and a listening ear to senior centres, fostering meaningful moments of connection, engagement, and positive interaction. Physical touch and animal presence can spark happy memories.
Special Needs Support
Our animals provide a steady, non-judgmental presence. The calm warmth and softness of a small animals can ground the senses, reduce sensory overload, and foster emotional safety and confidence for those who process the world differently.
A Safe Sensory Bridge
Gentle Paws Education offers a unique approach to animal-assisted engagement, focusing on creating a safe and supportive environment where both children and older adults can thrive. Our sessions are designed to be a gentle introduction to the wonders of interacting with animals.
Activities and Engagement
During Animal Assisted Wellness Experiences, participants are invited to connect with animals through calm, guided, and meaningful interactions and fun activities. These can include gentle petting, learning about animal care, observing animal behaviours, and participating in quiet companionship. Our focus is always on fostering respect, understanding, and a calm presence for everyone involved.
The Creative Echo: Expressing the Unspoken
After the quiet connection with my small friends, I offer an optional space to express what you felt through art. This is not about being an "artist" or having perfect technique; it is about giving a shape to your feelings and a voice to your heart.
🎨 Capturing the Sensation
We use simple materials like paint, clay, or pencils to translate the peace and joy of the experience into something you can see and touch.
Observation & Sketching: We focus on the small details of the animal to slow down our minds and truly "see" the beauty of a living being.
Painting with Feeling: Using colors to express the energy and mood the animal shared with you.
Sculpting & Touch: Working with clay or natural materials to give a physical form to a feeling.
✨ Why Add a Creative Moment?
Emotional Release: It provides a safe way to say "this is how I feel" through colors and shapes rather than just words.
Deepening the Bond: The act of creating helps the sense of well-being from the animal connection stay with you much longer.
A Personal Journey: It turns a shared experience into a personal story that you can keep and remember.
🌿 PawsArt Journey
This creative activity flows naturally from my own passion, PawsArt Journey, where I use watercolors and acrylics on natural supports like wood and fabric to celebrate the life of our pets. It is my way of honoring the unique spirit of every companion I meet.
Would you like to stay a moment longer and let your feelings flow onto the canvas?
